A 39-year tradition that has attracted more than 25,000 people each summer to downtown Iowa City, the Iowa Arts Festival, from August 13 to 15, will host more than 90 visual artists, include an Emerging Artist Area geared toward elevating student work, and feature a beverage garden, a variety of culinary delights, children’s activities, and thrilling live-music performances on the Main and Ped Mall Stages.

A gifted and prolific artist dedicated to exploring the power of language and the mystical nature of the psyche, Lesley Dill will be the special guest in an August 18 virtual artist talk hosted by Davenport's Figge Art Museum, the award-winning talent on hand to discuss her artistic process and the works in her current Figge exhibition Wilderness: Light Sizzles Around Me.

The longer summer days and the color of light in the evening has not gone unnoticed by the artists at the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, and through August 26, works by some of the Bettendorf venue's 45 artisans will be on display in the exhibition Golden Light: Summer of New Beginnings, personal expressions of hope and light inspired by the summer rays and the hope of better days for our community and world.

Members of the Figge Art Museum who have admired the many works in the venue's current Tom Uttech: Origin are invited to enjoy a live audience with the artist himself, as the virtual August 4 presentation A Conversation with Tom Uttech finds the gifted Wisconsin painter and photographer discussing his process and inspirations while also answering participants' questions.

On July 21, Figge Art Museum members are invited to learn more about one of the most iconic visual artists of the 20th century in the virtual presentation Discovering Warhol: An Evening with Donald Warhola, a special event in which one of Warhol's nephews will talk about his personal connection with “Uncle Andy,” the man's artistic process and legacy, and the Warhol works currently on display in the museum's popular exhibition POP Power from Warhol to Koons.

Through January 9, Davenport's German American Heritage Center will house an informative and fascinating display on an early-20th-century Art Nouveau style in Jugendstil: Art for All, an exhibit devoted to artisans determined to explore new mediums, share artistic ideas with fellow artists, and establish the foundation for Bauhaus, Art Deco, and other artistic movements.

Beautiful colors, gorgeous designs, and objects of opulence will all be explored in the latest virtual presentation hosted by Davenport's German American Heritage Center, with Ann L. Koski's July 18 program Lush Beauties: Art Nouveau Jewelry examining famed jewelers such as Lalique, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and Liberty of London, as well as the intricacies of Germany's Jugendstil Art Nouveau movement.

At the Quad City Arts International Airport Gallery, the second half of 2021 is being jump-started with vibrant explosions of color and varied artistic mediums that can be found in a trio of new exhibitions on display through August 30: exhibits of ceramic works by Will Van Dyke, paintings by Anne Kauf, and textiles by Kara Fedje.

Human figures, evocative colors, and a new yet familiar Quad Cities landmark are among the visuals showcased in the latest exhibitions at Rock Island's Quad City Arts Center, with the venue, through August 13, highlighting new paintings by Port Byron's Laura Vincent-Arnold in Internal Landscapes and Bettendorf's John Born in Bridging the Divide.

Large-scale photographs from the Museum of Wisconsin Art and a beloved painting from the Figge Art Museum's collection will be among the conversation topics in the Figge's laest virtual presentation, with Wisconsin artist Tom Uttech, July 1, discussing his process and his works in the Davenport venue's current exhibition Origin.
