Music, dance, food, and a community parade will all be on the celebratory agenda on October 24 when the Figge Art Museum hosts its Day of the Dead In-Person Family Day, a tribute to the memories of lost loved ones being held in conjunction with the Día de los Muertos holiday and the Davenport venue's current Day of the Dead exhibition.

A fascinating discussion on the various techniques and production processes used to create spectacular pieces in the Davenport venue, the Figge Art Museum's virtual artist talk on October 21 will find curator Joshua Johnson taking an in-depth look at key art in the popular exhibit Dimensional: 3D Works from the Figge Collection, a showcase for the talents of dozens of gifted artisans spanning literal centuries.

A visualized answer to the question “What did you do on your pandemic?”, the group exhibition Art on Lockdown on display at Rock Island's Quad City Arts Center through December 3 – is a glorious celebration of creativity in oftentimes stressful and lonely times, this diverse collection of works boasting no fewer than 80 works of art by 67 regional artists.

Appearing locally in conjunction with her installation Breakfast on Pluto, and noted for her extensive body of work that engages with social and cultural issues, Cedar Rapids' Jane Gilmor hosts an October 14 artist talk at Davenport's Figge Art Museum, in which Gilmore will discuss her varied body of work and her position as a foundational figure in the women's art movement since the 1970s.

A sculpture showcase employing repurposed past work and found materials from the recesses of her studio, the installation Jane Gilmor: Breakfast on Pluto will be displayed at Davenport's Figge Art Museum through February 6, with the arresting work – one activated via motion and light – encouraging visitors to contemplate the interplay between light and darkness, the familiar and the strange, and the past and the present.

The celebration of a key artist in the development of printmaking in the 20th century, as well as the artistic community that he created, Robert Blackburn & Modern American Printmaking will be on display at Davenport's Figge Art Museum through January 9, the exhibit a fascinating showcase of a talent who challenged the idea of lithography as a high-craft process.

Outdoor views of the Quad Cities will be admired and enjoyed in a Bettendorf venue when the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, through October 30, houses its exhibition Paint the River: Fifth-Annual Plein Air Paint Outa collection of works by local artists all created outside, and all executed on subject matter along the Mississippi from the I-80 Bridge to the Centennial Bridge on both sides of the river.

A yearly outdoor tradition for artists of all skill levels returns on September 25 with the fifth-annual Plein Air Paint Out, an event sponsored by the Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, and one that can lead to artists not only selling their creations, but exhibiting them both in the Bettendorf venue and on the walls of Davenport's Adler Theatre.

Returning this fall to the Figge Art Museum's first-floor Gildehaus Gallery, the latest offering in the Figgeo Video series will, through January 2, feature the work of acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Janet Biggs, whose video and performance works focus on extreme situations and experiences, drawing connections between physical and psychological terrains and tests of human limits.

A gifted painter with two masters degrees from the University of Iowa, Franklin Evans will host a special, virtual studio tour for the Figge Art Museum on September 23, the artist's current installation at the Davenport venue – franklinsfootpaths exploring elements of Evans' personal history in Iowa while also encouraging new ways of experiencing the Quad Cities museum.
