DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 19, 2019) — The 12th annual QC Cancer Awareness Ride, formerly known as the QC Ride for the Cure, will take place on Sunday, August 25, at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, 2815 Locust St, Davenport. The ride continues to be an amazing event for Gilda’s Club Quad Cities as riders enjoy joining together and riding in honor of all those who have fought and continue to fight their battle with cancer.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (June 6, 2019) — This week Iowa ranked first in the nation for receiving the most awards for long-term care-quality in a nationwide awards competition. Forty-five Iowa long-term care-facilities were recognized by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) with the 2019 Bronze — Commitment to Quality Award, which encompassed 590 long-term and post-acute care providers in 48 states.

DES MOINES, IA (June 6, 2019) — State Treasurer Michael L Fitzgerald was pleased to present a check for several thousand dollars from the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt to the Central Iowa Region American Red Cross on Thursday. "The Great Iowa Treasure Hunt is proud to reunite the American Red Cross $12,300 in lost funds," Fitzgerald said. "This past winter and spring, we have seen one disaster after another across Iowa. ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (June 6, 2019) — Summer can be a harsh time in the Quad Cities for many in our community. As the temperature and heat-indices rise, many members of our community struggle to stay cool. Christian Care is dedicated to helping those who are less-fortunate by opening its doors as an Emergency Cooling Center when temperatures are 90 degrees and above (including heat index). Those needing assistance are welcome between the hours of 8AM-7PM, seven days a week.

WASHINGTON DC (May 24, 2019) — Today, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared for marketing two tests that can detect the presence of the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which cause the sexually-transmitted infections, respectively, chlamydia and gonorrhea, through diagnostic testing of extragenital specimens.
