Iowa Mission of Mercy Returns To Davenport

DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 11, 2019) — On the afternoon or early evening of September 19 the first person will start the line outside The RiverCenter in Davenport.

The people who line up won’t be waiting to buy coveted tickets to a concert or play. They will be first in line for free dental-care from the Iowa Mission of Mercy.

Hy-Vee Dietitians to Provide Free Heart Health Screenings in September

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (August 30, 2019) — Hy-Vee Inc will provide free heart health screenings throughout its eight-state region during the month of September. Hy-Vee dietitians working out of Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobiles will offer the free heart health screenings to customers at more than 130 Hy-Vee stores. Appointments will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

In fact, according to a study published in the Journal of American Dental Association in January 2019, complete tooth-loss has decreased more than 75 percent over the past 50 years for this age group. It seems terrific on the surface, until you realize that many of these adults do not have dental-insurance coverage or access to dental-care due to poverty or other barriers.

Illinois Public Pension Fund Association (IPPFA) Praises Signing of First Responders Suicide Prevention Act

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (August 16, 2019) — The Illinois Public Pension Fund Association (IPPFA) today praised the signing of the Illinois First-Responders Suicide Prevention Act, a new law the IPPFA drafted that will help fight the number-one cause of duty-related deaths in the state. Governor JB Pritzker signed the legislation today at the Illinois State Police headquarters in Springfield, and the law takes effect immediately.
