BETTENDORF, IOWA (November 16, 2022) — The Scott Community College Theatre Department is proud to present its fall theatre production, Greater Tuna. Performances will be held at Scott Community College's Black Box Theatre, Friday, November 18, 7:30PM; Saturday, November 19, 7:30PM; and Sunday, November 20, 2:30PM.
Greater Tuna is the original production in an acclaimed series that takes an affectionate and hilarious look at the memorable inhabitants of Tuna, the third-smallest town in Texas, where the Lions Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.
The play’s director, Kevin Babbitt, has worked alongside talented student performers to bring to life an eclectic band of twenty Tuna citizens — men, women, children, even animals — in this satire on life in rural America. Tuna’s inhabitants parade across the stage in all their outrageous and irreverent glory, commenting on life, politics, and what makes them (and sometimes us) tick.
Those performing include eleven SCC student actors: Aria Defoe, Eli Dezarn, Ashley Durham, Maesi Geigle, Chenoa Henderson, Olivia Hoft, Paxton Loquist, Perin McGrath, Rebekah Pace, Jay Ruefer, and Alexander Shoemaker. Babbitt’s previous works for the department include: Tales from the Coffee Bar, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You, and The Laramie Project.
SCC’s Black Box Theater is located at Scott Community College, 500 Belmont Road, Bettendorf. Guests should enter through Door N° 3 and continue down the stairs to the theatre.
