The Project of the Quad Cities is hosting a conference sponsored by the Illinois Department of Insurance regarding the Health Insurance Coverage Parity Requirements for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Care (MH/SUD) on Tuesday, April 26th at 1202 4th Avenue in Moline, Illinois from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
Both health insurance consumers and behavioral health/substance use disorder care providers are invited to join us for the training. Following live presentations from the Illinois Department of Insurance, the Illinois Department of Healthcare, Family Services and the Division of Medical Programs, there will be a question and answer session.
Mental health parity and addiction equity passed Congress in 2008 and requires health insurance carriers to achieve coverage parity between MH/SUD and medical/surgical benefits, especially in regard to financial requirements and treatment limitations.
The goal of the program is to inform consumers and providers of these requirements and help them navigate health insurance plans in effort to make sure that much need mental health and substance use disorder services are utilized when needed.
