PORT BYRON, Ill. – Because taking a balanced approach to resolving the state’s financial issues involves having a community perspective, state Rep. Mike Smiddy, D-Hillsdale, is inviting residents of Tampico and the surrounding area to join him for a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 26 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Tampico Village Hall, located at 202 W. Second St. in Tampico.

“I’ve always made it a priority to be accessible to the people I represent, and town hall meetings like this are a great way to talk with residents about the issues that are most important to them,” Smiddy said. “Illinois is facing many issues, and I’m hoping Tampico residents will join my on Jan. 26 to discuss ways we can resolve them.”

The town hall meeting will begin with a brief legislative update from Smiddy, centered on the ongoing budget negotiations and newly enacted legislation, followed by an open question and answer time. Residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions and offer suggestions on how to move Illinois forward.

The event is free and open to the public. For questions, please contact Smiddy’s full time constituent service office at 309-848-9098.
