Ferris Wheel opening, Correa Bobblehead, Camo Jersey Auction, Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary and more
DAVENPORT, Iowa. (May 19, 2014) - The Quad Cities River Bandits host the Burlington Bees in a three-game series before battling the Cedar Rapids Kernels for three games from Monday, May 19, through Saturday, May 24, at Modern Woodmen Park. Below are the highlights of promotions and events for the home stand.
Monday, May 19, 7:00 p.m. (Gates open at 5:30 p.m.) Sponsor: 97X
- Official Ferris Wheel Light Show - Don't miss the great light show that comes with the new Ferris Wheel at the end of the game!
- 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang Car Show - Anyone who drives a Mustang to the ballpark will receive a free bleacher ticket and free parking. A car show outside the ballpark will become a pregame car parade on the field.
- Markdown Monday presented by 97X - Bleacher and berm tickets are $2 each, as are beers, sodas, hot dogs, peanuts, nachos and popcorn.
Tuesday, May 20, 11:00 a.m. (Gates 9:30 a.m.) Sponsors: Pepsi, WOC and Q-106.5
- Book Buddies Game - The River Bandits host the graduates of the Book Buddies program. The students who completed the program will get to participate in a pregame parade on the field approximately one hour before first pitch.
Wednesday, May 21, 7:00 p.m. (Gates 5:30 p.m.) Sponsors: U.S. Bank, Mix 96 and CBS4 WHBF
- Survivor Night - The River Bandits staff will engage in a number of Survivor-themed contests. Fans decide the winner of Survivor: Bandits Island, using the MiLB Inside the Park smart phone app throughout the game.
- Pay Your Bill Wednesday presented by U.S. Bank, Mix 96 and CBS4 WHBF - Fans can bring copies of their unpaid bills to Modern Woodmen Park and enter them in a drawing to be paid up to $100 by the River Bandits. The team will randomly select two to be paid.
Thursday, May 22, 7:00 p.m. (Gates 5:30 p.m.) Sponsors: Rock 104-9 and River Cities' Reader
- Date Night Out - Ticket specials for two, including two bleacher tickets for $10 and two box seat tickets for $15. A dinner package for two - two hot dogs, two bags of chips, two sodas - is $10. Fans can also enter to win a special date night-themed gift packages.
- Thirst-day Thursday presented by Rock 104-9 and River Cities' Reader - Fans can enjoy $2 drink specials throughout the game.
- Buy One-Get One presented by IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union - All Thursday tickets for IHMVCU members are buy-one, get-one free. Fans must show membership at the box office to receive the ticket special.
Friday, May 23, 7:00 p.m. (Gates 5:30 p.m.) Sponsors: Smart Toyota of the Quad Cities, WQAD, WLLR, Iowa Army National Guard
- Military Appreciation Night Camo Jersey Auction presented by Iowa Army National Guard - The River Bandits will wear Camo Jersys for the fourth annual Camo Jersey Auctions, and fans may bid on the game-worn jerseys to support the Iowa Army National Guard. Select jerseys will be auctioned live after the game.
- Friday Fireworks presented by Smart Toyota of the Quad Cities, WQAD & WLLR - All fans will be treated to a free postgame fireworks show.
Saturday, May 24, 6:00 p.m. (Gates 4:30 p.m.) Sponsors: 101.3 KISS -FM, APAC Customer Services & CBS4 WHBF
- Inaugural Ferris Wheel Ride (noon to 3:00 p.m.) - Open exclusively to 300 advance ticket holders, the event and fundraiser will give all ticket proceeds to the Genesis Health Services Foundation. Fans in attendance at Saturday's game may purchase tickets at the amusement areas to ride the Ferris wheel.
- Carlos Correa Bobblehead Giveaway presented by APAC Customer Services & CBS4 WHBF - The first 1,500 fans will receive a bobblehead of Carlos Correa, shortstop of the 2013 Midwest League Champions and the top-rated prospect in the Houston Astros system.
- Fan Appreciation Saturday presented by 103.1 KISS FM - There will be $2 drink specials on beer and soda. A table for a balloon artist and a face painter will both be on the concourse.
- MC22 Telecast- Mediacom Connections (MC22) will record a television game broadcast to be re-aired on MC22.
The amusements of Modern Woodmen Park will be open throughout Memorial Day weekend. While the River Bandits are on the road, the general public may still come to the ballpark to ride the Ferris wheel and enjoy the amusements. The amusement areas of Modern Woodmen Park will be open noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25, which is also the rain date for the Inaugural Ferris Wheel Ride event. On Monday, May 26, the ballpark will be open noon to 6 p.m. on Memorial Day.
The amusement rides are scheduled to be open - weather permitting - to fans at every River Bandits home game, and will also be open on weekend non-game days: Fridays 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon and 6 p.m.-10 p.m., and Sundays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Ferris wheel rides are $5 each (two for $8, four for $15), and Bounce QC Kids Zone access is $5 per child. An all-you-can-ride-and-bounce daily pass is $20, and a season pass for unlimited rides and play in the Bounce QC Kids Zone is $49.
