WEST BRANCH, IOWA— Explore Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, including the two-room cottage where he was born, with an official National Park Service app. Use it on your visit to West Branch, Iowa to discover the places and people that shaped the early life of the 31st President of the United States. The new app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices, includes several exciting features.

  • An official digital park map is easy to use while outdoors and features large font sizes, illustrated walkways, and multiple zoom levels.

  • Learn more about points of interest with lively text and photographs.

  • Discover Hoover's simple beginnings and follow in his footsteps with self-guided audio tours through Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.

  • Get up-to-date information from the National Park Service about what is happening at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.

  • With the tap of a button, share a digital postcard with friends and family from Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.

  • Audio described sites, alternative text images, combined with the built-in iOS or Android accessibility features, will let all people enjoy Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.

In addition using the app to navigate and learn about Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, visitors can use the app to explore the city of West Branch. Highlights include 15 downtown buildings that make up the West Branch Commercial Historic District, a preservation district listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Visitors to Herbert Hoover National Historic Site can preview the app on the new digital information kiosks at the visitor center. Visitors with disabilities may borrow a mobile device for the app at the information desk. There is no charge for visitors with disabilities to borrow a device, but government-issued photo identification is required.

Last year the National Park Service launched its “Find Your Park” campaign which began a two year celebration commemorating its first 100 years of preservation and service to the public. “Find Your Park” is aimed at getting people out to experience all their national parks have to offer and to share their favorite stories about National Parks.
