DAVENPORT —Caring for an aging loved one. It can be one of the toughest challenges a person will face in their lifetime. Many people become caregivers out of their love and commitment but often find out that this 24/7 responsibility is more physically and emotionally draining than they expected. Jane’s Place Adult Day Services at the Center For Active Seniors, Inc. (CASI) is here to help family members and caregivers mange this life-altering situation and provide peace of mind while giving quality and compassionate care and companionship for older adults who need assistance during the day.
CASI operates the only adult day care facility in Eastern Iowa serving adults with early onset dementia, seniors with specific physical needs and seniors who enjoy a daily routine filled with physical and cognitive activities and social interaction. Jane’s Place also provides caregivers with much needed respite and allows caregivers to continue to work.

Who: Anyone who needs assistance with caring for an older adult Jane’s Place is designed for adults with the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and/or dementia or those who require day-time supervision. Offering a structured, home-like setting, Jane’s Place encourages fun interaction, in a friendly group setting providing a place for social and therapeutic activities. Caregivers can continue work outside the home and/or receive respite from 24/7 caregiving responsibilities.
The Open House will showcase the benefits of adult day service including:
• Maintaining Independence – Jane’s Place helps maintain independent living by offering program participants stimulating activities in an interactive group setting.
• Person-Centered Care – Jane’s Place participants and their families can expect person-centered, individualized care. Each client has a care plan that is unique to his/her needs. Jane’s Place allows caregivers to remain working while caring for their loved ones.
• Peace Of Mind - Jane’s Place provides caregivers with a break from 24/7 caregiving responsibilities and gives them peace of mind knowing that their family member is being cared for by professionally trained and supportive staff.
• Cost-Effective – Jane’s Place is a low-cost alternative to long-term care. According to the 2015 Long Term Care Costs & Cost of Care in Iowa Report conducted by Genworth, the average annual cost of Adult Day Services is $15,600. This is compared to the Annual Costs of Assisted Living, $42,000 and $63,875 for a semi-private room in a long-term care facility (nursing home). On average, an individual who participate in adult day services are able to stay at-home 18 to 24 months longer than those who are not enrolled in the program.
Jane’s Place Adult Day Services is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jane’s Place caregivers are trained in dementia care and can provide personal assistance with one or more activities of daily living.
