WHAT — The Iowa Governor’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Advisory Council will convene for its 16th meeting on Wednesday, September 28, at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa. The meeting is open to the public and to the media.
The STEM Council meeting will host Dr. Yoshisuke Kumano from Shizuoka University in Japan to talk about the five best STEM practices he has observed during his tour of Iowa and other U.S. states actively involved in STEM education.
The rest of the meeting will highlight the expansion of the STEM BEST® (Businesses Engaging Student and Teachers) model, the latest Iowa STEM Evaluation Report released in August and a facilitated discussion about STEM Council member priorities. During lunch, a Ten80 national qualifying team from Shenandoah Middle School will talk about their experiences with the program on the 2015-2016 STEM Scale-Up Program menu.
STEM Council Co-Chairs Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Dr. Chris Nelson, president and CEO of Kemin Industries, will open and close the meeting.
