An interfaith service “We Are One Community: Peace, Unity and Love” will be
held at the River Center in Davenport on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.
Area residents are invited to show their support, love and respect for all people to
counter the violence in our community and nation.
Speakers at the event will be: Rev. Rogers Kirk, Jr., Third Missionary Baptist Church,
Davenport; Dr. Lisa Killinger, Muslim Community of the Quad Cities, Bettendorf; and Rabbi Jeffrey Lipschultz, Congregation Beth Israel at the Tri City Jewish Center, Rock Island. Each will speak about creating community and unity in the Quad Cities.
Music will uplift hearts and inspire all to work for unity and peace here in the Quad Cities.
Rev. Kirk commented,“The purpose of the service is to bring our community together as one community in response to all of the divisiveness caused as a result of
violence and the violent response to it. We feel instead of waiting until another tragedy happens here to bring us together we are taking a proactive approach as people of faith to show unity, peace and love. And as people of faith we must lead the way to show we are all one.”
Leaders from diverse faith communities are reaching across differences to find unity with each other and build stronger community. Representative organizations include
Quad Cities Interfaith, Churches United of the Quad-City Area, Edwards United Church of Christ (Davenport), First Baptist Church (Davenport), First Christian Church of
