On May 15, 2016, Great River Brewery is hosting Give & Grub, a fundraising luncheon sponsored by Connection Quad Cities, to help Laundry Love QC give low-income families a chance to have their laundry washed for free.

Laundry Love QC is a local charity that cleans laundry at two local laundromats. On the first Wednesday of each month, for 2.5 hours, anyone can show up to have their clothes washed and dried for free.

Those who attend the luncheon will receive a meal of chicken or fish tacos, fresh tortillas, pico de gallo, and beans and race. All this for a suggested donation of $10, with every dollar going to Laundry Love. Great River Brewery beer can be purchased as well.

The luncheon begins at 12 p.m. and ends at 2 p.m.

Jason Holtgrewe, Pastor at Connection Quad Cities, believes Give & Grub is a great way to help people and to have fun. “It’s hard to go wrong with quality catered food, great local craft beer, and all for a great cause,” says Jason. “We hope people have fun but also learn about and support an important local charity.”

Brandon Carleton, founder of Laundry Love QC, sees first hand, every month, the difference free laundry can make. “At our Rock Island laundromat, at least 80% of those coming are refugee families,” says Brandon. “It’s amazing helping them out, but it’s been even better building friendships with them that are helping them transition to life here in the United States.”

Anyone wanting to attend are encouraged to RSVP at www.connectionqc.org.

Give & Grub is May15th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Great River Brewery, 332 E. 2nd St., Davenport, IA 52801.
