Grain Magazine is soliciting contributing writers to educate and inform the local and regional community about its dynamic and wide-ranging Dubuque-area art scene.
Content due by February 10, 2016
Grain would like to hear about your personal experiences as an artist or arts advocate and your perspective on the local art community (media, design, literature, performing and visual arts). We
particularly want to hear from and about unconventional and underrepresented artists of all diciplines, as well as unorthodox exhibition/performance spaces from the region (within 200 miles of Dubuque, IA). Articles about the artistic process, methods of self-promotion, and other aspects of being a working artist are also encouraged.
Submissions: please send final drafts by February 10, 2016. Final Submissions may be in the form of essays and opinion pieces, interviews, artist/gallery/organization features, or any other format that highlights the arts in Dubuque and the area (within 200 miles of Dubuque) - 2000 word limit. Email content to graindbq@gmail.com. Include your contact information (email and phone number), city of residence, and a brief bio about yourself.
Article proposals are optional (not required), and can be submitted for feedback during the month of January.
Accepted content will be published through grain magazine in print, and/or through the new online Grain website expected to go live this spring, 2016.
ABOUT GRAIN:
Grain lives online and in print with the purpose of connecting the world to the creative people and works of Dubuque, IA and its surrounding areas. The semi-annual magazine particularly serves as a companion to our gallery shows, featuring artist interviews and illumination of gallery themes. Our online presence, a community-partner project, features exclusive perspectives from the ground-level of our creative culture, a searchable directory of everything art-related in town (studios, galleries, schools, etc), and a forum for connecting artists in need of partners and resources.
