Food and Toiletry Coupon Donations Sought; Homeless Family Shelter Teaching Class on Couponing

Quad Cities, USA: The Salvation Army is beginning its first ever Couponing Class for the Family Service Center program's residents at the end of the month. We are asking the community to mail to or drop off coupons at: The Salvation Army, 301 W. 6th Street, Davenport, IA 52803, Attn: Lindsay. (corner of Harrison and 6th Street downtown)

This new class called Coupon Clippers will be an extension of the Budgeting Class, where clients learn how to manage their finances and savings. The first two Couponing Classes will be held at the shelter where clients will learn to plan shopping trips and manage their grocery budget with coupons.

The third class will be a "field trip" at an area grocery store where the group can put their new skills to work, and save some money!

All types of coupons are needed: packaged food, canned food, paper products and toiletry type items such as shampoo, razors, toothpaste and diapers. All inserts from the Sunday's papers are desired.

Approximately 100 people (60% are children) reside at the Family Service Center every night receiving shelter, food and case management. This homeless family shelter provides life skills classes to all adults.
