Kathleen Madigan at the Capitol Theatre -- February 20.

Thursday, February 20, 7:30 p.m.

Capitol Theatre, 330 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Winner of both the American Comedy Award and the Phyllis Diller Award for "Best Female Comedian," and the star of popular streaming specials Bothering Jesus and Hunting Bigfoot, standup sensation and podcaster Kathleen Madigan brings "The Day Drinking Tour" to Davenport's Capitol Theatre on February 20, her lauded talents inspiring the Chicago Tribune to rave, "She has all but perfected the art of crafting and delivering a perfect joke."

Having earned a 1988 B.A. in journalism from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Missouri native Madigan began working for the St. Louis-area Suburban Journals newspapers as well as the publications department of the Missouri Athletic Club. At the same time, she performed stand-up during open-mic nights at St. Louis area comedy clubs. She credits her father, Jack, with encouraging her to try a comedy career, and her growing popularity at these soon led to the offer of a paying job in stand-up from The Funny Bone, a nationwide chain of comedy clubs. With a 30-week booking of guaranteed dates, Madigan gave up her jobs in Missouri, citing Ron White, Richard Jeni, and Lewis Black among her influences in her early comedy-club days.

Among the TV shows and specials Madigan has appeared on are Last Comic Standing, I Love the 90s: Part Deux, I Love the '80s 3-D, and Celebrity Poker Showdown. She also starred in her own HBO Half-Hour Comedy special and a Comedy Central Presents special, with Kathleen Madigan: Bothering Jesus debuting on Netflix and the recent Kathleen Madigan: Hunting Bigfoot premiering on Amazon Prime Video. She is a veteran of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, and Jerry Seinfeld's Web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and launched her comedy podcast Madigan's Pubcast in August of 2020. Madigan has also participated in USO shows in support of American troops, touring both Iraq and Afghanistan. "The USO shows are the best," says Madigan. "Trust me, no crowd is as appreciative and fired up to see any entertainer. I'm glad I have the chance because God knows I don't wanna have to do their job!"

Kathleen Madigan brings "The Day Drinking Tour" to Davenport on February 20, admission to the 7:30 p.m. show is $45-65, and more information and tickets are available by visiting FirstFleetConcerts.com/first-fleet-venues/capitol-theatre.
