Sound Conservatory, 504 17th Street, Moline IL
Boasting more than 25 years of experience dazzling audiences across the Midwest, a homegrown talent will amaze guests of Moline's Sound Conservatory with two presentations of David Casas: An Evening of Magic & Wonder, the November 23 and 24 events filled with mind-bending illusions, masterful sleight-of-hand, and plenty of interactive fun.
Over the course of more than a quarter-century, from Chicago to Las Vegas, Casas' unique and cutting-edge style of magic has made him one of the most highly sought after entertainers in the Midwest. As stated at DavidCasasMagic.com, "He perfectly blends comedy and magic, to create a truly one-of-a-kind, must-see show! David has been described as professional, charming, funny, and is considered the number-one magical entertainer in the Quad Cities! He has been featured on television and radio, and routinely opened for ComedySportz Quad Cities for eight years. His fast-paced interactive magic show features mind-blowing magic, hilarious family friendly comedy, and plenty of audience participation. When not touring, David also teaches youth magic classes for the Bettendorf Parks & Recreation and the Davenport Junior Theatre."
Describing his youthful interest in magic during a 2015 River Cities' Reader interview, Casas said, ""You know how there are illusionists who cut people in half or levitate women? That never really amazed me, because I always knew there was a trick to it - the assistant did all the work, or the box was a trick box. To me, that wasn't magic. Magic was when someone came out and just made things appear and disappear. That's what I wanted to learn. 'Man, that guy is just standing there in a tux, so where are all these birds coming from?!' I would practice eight to 10 hours a day. I never had a lot of friends in high school because they were all going to parties and stuff, and I would stay home and practice on weekends. I think that's how I got good so fast. I learned really quick, but I was just really disciplined and took it seriously and practiced a lot, and I started thinking, 'I can do this for a living maybe.'"
David Casas: An Evening of Magic & Wonder will enjoy performances in Moline on November 23 and 24, with Saturday's 7 p.m. show an adult-focused performances and Sunday's 4 p.m. presentation directed toward youths.
