DES MOINES, IOWA (May 28, 2024) — In 2023, the Transportation Security Administration confiscated almost 7,000 firearms at airport security checkpoints. Last year, a health system in Ohio confiscated 30,000 weapons. This begs the question: How do hospitals balance the safety, security, and privacy of patients, visitors, and their workforce?

The Balancing Act: Safety, Security and Privacy, scheduled 10-11AM, Tuesday, June 11, will discuss the emergence of increased and innovative security measures in hospitals to address the recent uptick in violent incidents at health-care facilities. The session will also provide insight into trends and discuss legal and compliance issues.
