MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 20, 2024) — National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) 2024, an annual celebration of the US travel community's contributions to economic growth and community vitality, begins on May 19-25, 2024 and Visit Quad Cities is ready to showcase its role in driving prosperity and connection.

This year’s theme, “Travel. Powering the Economy. Connecting America.” resonates strongly in the Quad Cities region, where the travel industry is vital in fueling economic growth, supporting job opportunities, and enhancing community well-being. Visit Quad Cities, the region’s official destination management and marketing organization (DMMO), is a leader in generating non-resident revenues that positively impact households, businesses and the public sector in the QC.

With over 9,000 local jobs supported by the $1.3 billion regional visitor economy, tourism stands as a leader in economic development. Through the direct efforts of Visit Quad Cities, tourism saves each household in the Quad Cities nearly $1,300 in taxes annually.

“We’re proud to join our colleagues around the country in celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week 2024,” said Dave Herrell, President and CEO of Visit Quad Cities. “Travel is not just about visiting new places — it's about fueling economies and powering brand identity, investment, talent, community programming, and resident pride.

The travel industry's impact extends far beyond tourism dollars, contributing to essential sectors like manufacturing, health-care, and agriculture. In 2023, travel spending left a $2.8 trillion economic footprint on the US economy and supported over 15 million jobs nationwide. Moreover, travel generated $89 billion in state and local tax revenue, providing crucial support for education, emergency response, public safety, and more.

Throughout National Travel and Tourism Week 2024, Visit Quad Cities invites residents and visitors alike to join in celebrating the industry's undeniable impact on the region's economy, culture, and quality of life. From vibrant arts and entertainment scenes to scenic riverfronts and historic landmarks, the Quad Cities offers a wealth of experiences that showcase the power of travel to inspire, educate and connect.

Join us in celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week 2024 and highlighting the transformative power of travel in Quad Cities and beyond.
