WASHINGTON DC (October 23, 2019) — Prepared floor remarks by Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley on Ted Stevens’ addition to the Senate Leadership Portrait Collection:

Later today I will attend the portrait unveiling of my former colleague and friend, Sen Ted Stevens, who served in the Senate from 1968 to 2009.

This portrait is being added to the Senate Leadership Portrait Collection because of Sen Stevens’ service as the Senate President pro tempore, a position I now hold.

Sen Stevens was known for his tireless work on behalf of the Alaskan people, reaching across party lines to get the job done.

I am honored to attend today’s ceremony, adding Sen Stevens’ portrait to the historic walls of the United States Capitol.
