DES MOINES, IOWA (August 21, 2024) — State Treasurer Roby Smith, a member of the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation, announces Christian Baluyut of Clinton is to receive a Robert D Blue scholarship award for the 2024-2025 school year. The Robert D Blue Scholarship, which is given by the Foundation, awarded seven Iowa students based on financial need, an original essay, academic achievement, and recommendations. The recipients represented five Iowa counties.

"The scholarship fund has helped hundreds of Iowa students attend colleges and universities across the state," said Treasurer Smith. "I'm impressed by these students and their strong commitment to their education and communities. Christian is an excellent example of the type of student we were looking for." Baluyut will be attending Emmaus Bible College this fall.

The Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation was created in 1949 by Governor Robert D Blue. At that time, a scholarship fund was established to encourage students to attend Iowa's institutions of higher learning. In 1990, the Foundation officially named the scholarship after Gov Blue and hopes to encourage the education development of Iowa's students and their work in public service fields.
