BETTENDORF, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — The Quad City Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) would like to invite Engineers and Computing Professionals to pledge their commitments to their professions by taking part in a Pledging Ceremony for their profession. The Pledging Ceremonies will be held prior to the 2025 QCESC STEM Celebration on February 20, 2025, at The Bend Center in East Moline. Check out our webpage which will be updated soon.

Order of the Engineer: The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. Graduate and registered engineers are invited to accept the Obligation of the Engineer. At the ceremony, Engineers take a pledge to practice their profession ethically and honestly, and to serve humanity. A steel ring is presented at the ceremony. There is no cost to taking the pledge nor any meetings to attend. QCESC hosts Link (Chapter) N° 271 and has 38 members. More info can be found at https://qcesc.org/order-of-the-engineer/. Contact Dan D'Alessandro at professionaldevelopment@qcesc.org if you would like more info or to apply to take the pledge. This is a great way to show pride in your profession.

Pledge of the Computing Professional is an organization that promotes the notion of computing as a recognized profession at the time of graduation for students in computer science and other computing-related programs. The Pledge is modeled after the Order of the Engineer. The Pledge of the Computing Professional is solely intended to promote and recognize the ethical and moral behavior of graduates of computing-related degree programs as they transition to careers of service to society. Upon taking the Pledge, the professional receives a lapel pin and a certificate. The inductee is reminded to always honor their profession through their actions. More info can be found at qcesc.org/the-pledge-of-the-computing-professional/ Contact Beth Ullmark at Director@qcesc.org if you would like more information or would like to take the pledge.
