Two local non-profit organizations, The Quad City Botanical Center and Family Resources are partnering to plant a 1,200 square foot community vegetable garden on Davenport's East Side on the grounds of the Annie Wittenmyer Complex. With the generous support of The Amy Helpenstell Foundation, Arconic, and Eastern Iowa Community College, this garden will be planted Saturday, May 13th.  Throughout the summer, the Quad City Botanical Center will provide programming and education to the residents of the complex to help spread knowledge of a working vegetable garden. Eastern Iowa Community College will also provide STEM related camp programming and education to the youth at Family Resources.  Other hopes for the garden include art such as paintings, sculptures, and other creative projects to help beautify the grounds.  These art projects will also be completed by the youth at the Family Resources.  If you would like to get involved with helping maintain the community garden, or helping teach the lessons, please contact Greg Wolf at 309.794.0991 Ext. 208, or edu@qcgardens.com
