DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 21, 2024) — On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 20, North High School staff received information of a potential student with a firearm. North administration responded swiftly and the student was promptly called out of the classroom to meet with the school resource officer. During the search of the student, officers located a firearm in the student’s possession.

Due to the quick actions of North staff and the school resource officer, a safe learning environment was maintained. There was no disruption to the school day, no threats were made, and the school was not placed on lockdown. The student was arrested by the Davenport Police Department and charged with Carrying Weapons on School Grounds.

The safety of our students and staff, and the security of our buildings, remains a top priority. We are thankful for our partnership with the Davenport Police Department and their quick response to this incident.

This remains an ongoing investigation by the Davenport Police Department; no further information is available at this time.
