DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 17, 2025) — A group of national labor leaders will join local workers and their representatives for a field hearing in Davenport on Tuesday, April 22, 6-8PM, at the Starlight Ballroom @ Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, Gate 2 Entrance, 2815 W Locust St, Davenport.

The hearing will explore the impacts of the Trump Administration cuts to federal agencies and impacts on the local economy.

National AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond and AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride will join Iowa Federation of Labor and the Quad Cities Federation of Labor to hear testimony from area workers on the impacts of cuts to critical programs at the Department of Agriculture that support farming and all industries associated with it including farm machinery manufacturing, food safety and food supply operations.

The hearing is one of many happening across the country during congressional recess this week and will feature the testimony of federal workers and workers in the manufacturing and food processing industries.

The AFL-CIO’s Department of People Who Work for a Living has been lifting up the voices of federal workers as Elon Musk’s DOGE organization and other Trump Administration efforts to dismantle critical government agencies and the services and protections continue.
