MAQUOKETA, IOWA (April 21, 2025) — The Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter has awarded Sally Davies of Maquoketa the 2025 Support Group Facilitator of the Year award for her unwavering dedication as a support group leader for Alzheimer’s care-givers in Eastern Iowa.
Davies is a Community Relations Coordinator at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa and Sunset Park Place in Dubuque, and she has been a support group facilitator for ten years in the Eastern Iowa area. She is a wonderful leader who always puts the needs of the group first, whether that means offering virtual options, changing meeting locations, focusing on different topics, or offering an open forum for group members to share and provide support for each other.
Sally says that facilitating this group has been a rewarding journey — one that continues to reaffirm the power of connection, compassion, and community.
“My ‘why’ started simply — with the desire to be helpful,” says Davies. “Over time, it has evolved into a deep passion for empowering people, supporting care-givers, and connecting individuals with the tools and resources they need. My purpose remains rooted in walking alongside those caring for loved ones, helping to build networks of support, and offering knowledge and encouragement in a safe, understanding environment.”
The Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter thanks Sally Davies for her service, passion, and dedication as a volunteer. All Alzheimer’s Association volunteers are passionate, inspired and want to make a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
