ATLANTA, GEORGIA (August 7, 2024) — Chase Oliver’s campaign caught fire last summer when he hit the Iowa Soapbox, the first presidential candidate outside of the Old Parties to get an invitation. He returns Saturday as the first presidential candidate to take the stage.

“I'm excited to once again attend the Iowa State Fair. Last year, my appearance at the Des Moines Register Soapbox was a highlight of my campaign,” says Oliver, 38. “I'm ready to return to the stage and let Iowans know that they aren't limited to two divisive choices on their ballot for president.”

Before Oliver returns to the Iowa State Fair, he will hold a press conference outside the Secretary of State office before filing candidacy paperwork. Press is encouraged to attend. After filing, Oliver will attend a rally with local farmers to protest eminent domain and carbon pipeline projects.

Oliver became the first Libertarian presidential candidate to campaign in all 50 states, and is the only candidate in the 2024 field to do so.

Oliver’s constant raves about the food at the Iowa State Fair and the crab rangoon pizza from Fong’s Pizza has made Iowa — yes, Iowa — one of destinations where campaign staff are jockeying to work that event. (Not surprisingly, Hawaii is the N° 1 choice — and least likely to happen again.)

Other firsts:

May be the first presidential candidate to campaign in all fifty states ahead of serving in office. Only four presidents have visited all fifty states within their terms: Richard Nixon, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.

First Libertarian candidate to speak at the Fancy Farm Picnic in western Kentucky, where he joined the stage with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Saturday, August 3.

Won the Presidential Straw Poll with about 43 percent of the vote at Libertarian Party of Iowa’s first Caucus. The Iowa Caucuses kick off the presidential campaign season, and showings here can make or break candidacies.
