DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 21, 2024) — “Each year, past champions return to the Kwik Star Criterium, and this year is no different. Last year’s Pro Men’s first-place finisher, Drew Dillman of Texas Roadhouse is returning announced John Harrington with the Kwik Star Criterium.

“The Kwik Star/Snake Alley weekend is one of those race weekends that’s been a staple of my career as a cyclist,” says Drew Dillman. “I have memories of these races as a young cyclist doubling up to race both the Junior races and the Pro races, which at the time was a blast! To think that one day I’d be the one winning the race is pretty neat and I’m grateful that these races have continued to exist year after year.

“I’ve raced with the Texas Roadhouse team the last two years I’ve attended these races and have had good success winning both Snake Alley and Kwik Star in 2022 and winning Kwik Star for the second year in a row in 2023. However, this year I’ve made a transition to a more gravel-focused season and will be racing on my own without the help of a team. Similarly to last year’s female champion, Peta Mullens, I, too, am training for the Unbound 200 the weekend after so my training has been a bit more focused toward that kind of effort. This means I’ll have to play my cards a bit smarter, but I do still have high hopes for a three-peat at the Kwik Star Crit next weekend.”

Drew can be contacted at Dillman.andrew@yahoo.com or by phone at 502-435-1338.

The Kwik Star Criterium started as the Moline Criterium in 1965 and has evolved over the years, eventually landing on Memorial Day in 1975. Since then, it has joined with other area races to form the Iowa Memorial Weekend Cycling Classic.
