DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 11, 2019) — Davenport Fire crews were busy Monday afternoon at a house fire in northwest Davenport. District Chief Mike Ryan says shortly after 1:30PM fire crews received a call for a report of house with smoke coming from the roof in the 2100 block of W 68th St. First arriving fire crews found smoke coming from the eaves and attic vents. A hose line was advanced into the building and the small fire was extinguished in a rear bedroom. Two dogs that were kenneled inside the home were removed from the building and brought to safety.

All 4 occupants that were home at the time were outside when crews arrived. Smoke that had built up inside was removed using large portable fans. Estimates put damage to the building at $7000 and contents an additional $5000.

The fire is under investigation at this time.
