AMES, IOWA (March 30, 2022) — The Iowa State Daily announced today it will enter into a yearlong strategic partnership with Iowa State Green Dot, expanding the initiative's reach throughout the Iowa State community.

The partnership will see approximately $20,000 in donated advertising across Iowa State Daily's platforms, allowing Green Dot to reach the students, faculty, and staff of Iowa State on a regular basis.

Green Dot at Iowa State University aims to decrease power-based personal violence on campus by utilizing education, outreach, and development as mechanisms for increasing awareness and competency around bystander-intervention skills.

"This is an exciting time for Iowa State's Green Dot program," said Dr Toyia Younger, Iowa State University Senior Vice President for Student Affairs. "This collaboration with the Iowa State Daily will provide new opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to learn about this initiative to help make our campus and community more safe."

Carrie Giese, Iowa State's Health Promotions Coordinator, is eager to see the number of Green Dots increase across campus.

"This level of engagement and support by the Iowa State Daily will increase the scope of students that can be reached by Green Dot, open doors to students being involved in the program, and help to sustain the core message of Green Dot across Iowa State's campus," she said.

The Iowa State Police Department sees Green Dot as a practical, tactical way to reduce instances of on-campus violence.

"I'm passionate about Green Dot because it empowers our community members to get involved in ending power-based personal violence while giving them the practical tools and support to safely do so," said Deputy Natasha Greene.

The Iowa State Daily has a long history of support of Green Dot's mission on campus, partnering with the organization since 2018.

"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to partner with Green Dot," said Kylee Haueter, Editor in Chief of the Iowa State Daily. "The Iowa State Daily is always looking to partner with campus initiatives and organizations and we are looking forward to being able to spread awareness of this extremely important initiative."
