DES MOINES, IOWA (February 19, 2025) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird today released the following statement on the passing of former Iowa Attorney General Evan “Curly” Hultman:

“Former Attorney General Curly Hultman was a bright legal mind and kind man who touched many lives with his service to our state and nation. I first met him in 2010, and he had great energy and enthusiasm. He carried that same spirit as Iowa Attorney General and during his heroic service to our nation in World War II. Iowa lost a wonderful man and leader who will be dearly missed. Bob and I are praying for his family and loved ones.”
