DES MOINES, IOWA (March 12, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds issued the following statement on the death of Janet Metcalf, 89, a former state legislator who served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1985 to 2003:

”Kevin and I are saddened to hear of the passing of former Iowa Representative Janet Metcalf. She served her Polk County constituents with passion and dedication for nine terms in the legislature and nearly two decades on the Broadlawns Medical Center Board of Trustees,” Gov Reynolds said.

“Her legacy of devotion to our state, her husband of 67 years, Donald, and her children and grandchildren is an example to all of us. Her family and friends are in our prayers.”
