DES MOINES, IOWA (November 26, 2024) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced her appointments of Andrew Zimmerman and Kristi Busse as district associate judges in Judicial Election Districts 5B and 3A, respectively.

Zimmerman, of Corning, Iowa, is a magistrate in Judicial Election District 5B and Legal Counsel and Trust Officer at Iowa State Savings Bank. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln and law degree from Creighton University School of Law.

Zimmerman fills a vacancy created following the passing of the Hon Monty Franklin. Judicial Election District 5B includes Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, and Wayne Counties.

Busse, of Spencer, Iowa, is an Assistant County Attorney for Clay County. She received her undergraduate degree from Buena Vista University and law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

Busse fills a vacancy created following the district judge appointment of Hon Andrew J Smith. Judicial District 3A includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, and Palo Alto counties.
