IOWA CITY, IOWA (January 5, 2021) — In the spring of 2021, Goodwill of the Heartland plans to relocate its Iowa City administrative offices and e-commerce division. The organization will consolidate several of its logistics facilities into the former Klein Tools facility at 8200 6th St SW in Cedar Rapids.

The move is unprecedented. Goodwill of the Heartland has been headquartered in its present location in Iowa City since 1967. This move represents the tremendous growth the organization has experienced in the past 53 years, as well as the desire to reduce expenses by bringing their logistical facilities together in one central location.

Goodwill of the Heartland’s CEO Pat Airy says, “Like many nonprofits, 2020 posed extreme challenges to our operations. Operating efficiently to support our mission has always been our top priority. 88 cents of every dollar earned goes directly to support our job training and placement programs in the communities we serve. We are always looking for ways to reduce our overhead so we can invest even more in our programs that help people with barriers to independence find work.”

In addition, Goodwill plans to open an outlet store where customers will be able to purchase unsorted donations by the pound. The new outlet store is expected to open later this spring.
