DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 25, 2025) — A press conference announcing a prairie restoration initiative, Getting Back to Our Roots, will be held, March 27, 10AM, at River Action, 822 East River Drive, Davenport. (Enter the permeable alley between Federal St and Tremont St north of River Drive.)

Getting Back to Our Roots is a program to restore over thirty acres of native prairie in four counties. Because prairies provide crucial habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, flood and erosion mitigation, water filtration, as well as natural beauty, it is being celebrated in connection with Earth Day 2025.

Distribution of the prairie seed (customized for each site) will be received by seven site managers.

A press packet will be available on arrival. The press packet will include a conference agenda, a map, and a list of prairie sites, sponsors of this program, and a diagram of how a prairie functions.

There will be an opportunity to interview site managers and River Action program managers.
