WAVERLY, IOWA (April 12, 2022) — Georgia Nissen, of Eldridge, Iowa, was one of three Wartburg College students inducted into the Sigma Pi Sigma physics honor society in April.
Sigma Pi Sigma was founded in 1921 to honor outstanding scholarship in physics, to encourage interest in physics at all levels, and to promote an attitude of service in its members. More than 90,000 scholars have been inducted into the honor society.
Wartburg, a four-year liberal-arts college internationally recognized for community engagement, enrolls 1,543 students. Wartburg is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and named after the castle in Germany where Martin Luther took refuge, disguised as a knight, during the stormy days of the Reformation while translating the Bible from Greek into German.
