DES MOINES, IA – Today, in the wake of endorsements from numerous current and former Iowa Legislators and former Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson, Mike Matson - former Gubernatorial hopeful and current Davenport Alderman - announced his endorsement of Fred Hubbell. Matson, who will serve the Hubbell campaign statewide as the Veterans Outreach Coordinator, is a decorated veteran who retired as an Army Sergeant Major with 20 years of active military service. The former Army Ranger served in many senior leadership positions, including during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Alderman Mike Matson provided the following statement:
“In addition to a successful career in the private sector, Fred Hubbell has served our state - first by Chairing the Iowa Power Fund as they invested in innovative alternative energy solutions across Iowa, and then by leading the Iowa Department of Economic Development through the clean-up of the film tax credit scandal.
“I’m endorsing Fred because he has the experience to fix our budget mess and re-invest in priorities like healthcare and education. As Governor Reynolds doles out bloated corporate tax credits in the midst of a budget crisis, there is no one I trust more than Fred to get us back on track.”
Fred Hubbell provided the following statement:
“Mike Matson has dedicated his life to serving our country and improving his community. I am honored to have his support and look forward to working with him to get Iowa growing!”
