WOW Wednesday
Wednesday, July 17, 2-5PM, is a WOW Wednesday at the Discovery Center, sponsored by US Bank Foundation. Stop at the Please-Touch-Table and be creative by making your own feathered friend. Step by step, you’ll build your very own pet parrot that will sit on your arm.
WOW Wednesday is perfect for school-aged kids and their families and is a great activity for a summer afternoon. WOW Wednesday is drop in with no pre-registration required — it is an enrichment program with no extra class fee.
Miss Jean is also here every WOW Wednesday, with her chess, juggling, and logic puzzles. Miss Jean teaches beginning chess to all, from preschoolers through adult, or she will play a strategic game with an opponent to match their skill-level. Additionally, she loves to juggle and can teach anyone of any age to become a successful juggler. Also, she has on hand three large cases of logic puzzles, construction materials, and hands-on brain-teasers to fascinate any age. She can teach anyone; all ages and abilities are welcome.
Music on the Avenue
Join the Discovery Center in beautiful Downtown Clinton for "Music on the Avenue", Thursday, July 18, 6-8PM. They’re bringing their Discovery Center fun to the event with games, facepainting, balloon art, and even an appearance by their many monarch caterpillars! It's all free and part of the summertime fun in our community.
Funtime Friday
Friday, July 19, at 10AM, is Funtime Friday, sponsored by Clinton Kiwanis Club and Alliant Energy Foundation. The Clinton Fire Department is coming to the Discovery Center. Meet the real-life firefighters of Clinton and learn about their exciting jobs. You’ll get to see their full firefighting gear and climb aboard a real firetruck. As always, this program includes a snack to go with the theme. This popular program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all-age children are welcome anytime, especially during summer vacations when everyone is out of school.
Storytime Saturdays
Every Saturday during this summer at 10AM is Storytime Saturday with Ms. Cotton. Enjoy a good book (or two!) on a Saturday morning with Rachel Cotton, an Americorps Literacy Volunteer. This week’s theme is “What is Independence Day?” Ms Cotton will bring her passion for books, reading and fun; and many will know her from her work at Eagle Heights Elementary this year. Running less than an hour each Saturday, the program is designed to engage all levels of readers — emerging to proficient — and promises to be great family fun. A FREE enrichment program with your regular museum admission!
Pirate Tea Parrrty
