DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 3, 2025) — The Mississippi Valley Blues Society is proud to announce the launch of our River Road Awards website (rra.mvbs.org).

Since 1995, the River Road Awards have honored Blues artists who embody the living history of this deeply soulful and emotional American art form — now, you can experience their stories and sounds all in one immersive digital space.

Here’s What Awaits You:

  • Honoring Over Forty Artists: Delve into the life stories, photos, and music tracks of Blues legends who may not be widely known but have dedicated their lives to preserving and performing the Blues.
  • Sterling D Plumpp Poems: Each artist’s journey is commemorated by a unique poem from celebrated African American poet Sterling D. Plumpp, penned at the time of their award.
  • Listening and Learning: Enjoy an interactive listening experience, uncover fascinating Blues history, and gain insight into the genre’s pivotal role in shaping modern music.
  • Educational and Community Focus: Explore the educational resources we offer for students and teachers — helping us inspire the next generation to carry this music forward.

At MVBS, our mission is to foster performance, education, and preservation of the Blues. The River Road Awards website stands as a digital tribute to the unsung heroes and heroines who’ve kept this tradition alive, ensuring that the raw emotion and cultural significance of the Blues continue to resonate with fans like you.

Join us in celebrating these legends! Visit rra.mvbs.org and immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind virtual Blues experience. Together, let’s keep the flame of the Blues burning for future generations.
