DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 22, 2024) — The Last Picture House is pleased to announce an exclusive special event for A24’s upcoming thriller Heretic, starring Hugh Grant. The event includes a screening of the film along with an in-person Q&A with lead star Chloe East (Spielberg’s The Fabelmans) in attendance, alongside costumer designer Betsy Heimann (Pulp Fiction) and writer/director/producers and Quad Cities natives Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
Tickets are now on sale to the general public at lastpicturehouse.com for the 6:00 PM screening Saturday, November 2, to be followed by a Q&A with actress Chloe East, costume designer Betsy Heimann, and Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. A second screening will follow at 8:45PM with an introduction by the same guests.
Starring Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East, two young missionaries become ensnared in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse when they knock on the door of the diabolical Mr Reed. Trapped in his home, they must turn to their faith if they want to make it out alive. Rated R.
Heretic currently has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film made its world premiere last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, with critics calling the film “Gorgeously made and wonderfully performed” (RogerEbert.com) and praising Hugh Grant’s performance: “Hugh Grant has never been so good” (Screen Rant).
About Chloe East
East was born in San Clemente, California. She began dancing at 2 ½, and at ten, she was cast in the role of Gloria in Fredrick Knott's Wait Until Dark. She made her television début in the hit HBO Series True Blood (2008) playing Sheriff Andy's daughter. She can be seen as Jessica Darling in the feature film Jessica Darling's It List (2016) on Netflix, as well as Val on Disney's Liv and Maddie (2013). At fifteen, she played Willow Green on Antoine Fuqua's new original series Ice (2016) alongside Donald Sutherland; she was then cast as a series regular on ABC's Kevin (Probably) Saves the World (2017) and on HBO Max's Generation. East played the memorable girlfriend Monica Sherwood in Steven Spielberg's Oscar nominated film The Fablemans. Upcoming films include Atropia and A24's film Heretic alongside Hugh Grant.
