DES MOINES, IOWA (April 2, 2025) — Ellipsis, a leading non-profit dedicated to helping kids and families overcome turbulent pasts and build successful futures, has named Kelly Hannan as its next chief executive officer, effective April 28.

Hannan will succeed Chris Koepplin, who has led the organization for the past three years and has served the organization throughout the last three decades. Koepplin will remain with Ellipsis through May 30 to ensure a seamless transition.

With an extensive background in non-profit leadership, organizational transformation, and community engagement, Hannan brings a mission-driven approach to advancing Ellipsis’ impact. Her expertise in building effective teams and driving measurable outcomes aligns with Ellipsis’ commitment to providing critical support for and empowering Iowa’s youth and families.

“Kelly’s leadership and vision will build upon the strong foundation Chris has established,” said Mick Lovell, board president of Ellipsis. “Her experience in driving operational excellence and fostering meaningful partnerships will be instrumental in continuing our mission to create successful outcomes for the youth and families we serve.”

Hannan joins Ellipsis following her tenure as chief operating officer of the Iowa Primary Care Association, where she played a pivotal role in expanding services and advancing health equity in community-health centers. She has a proven track record of leading organizations through transformation and will focus on strengthening Ellipsis’ programs, community relationships, and long-term sustainability.

“I am honored to join the Ellipsis team and continue the vital work of supporting the kids and their families who rely on this organization,” said Hannan. “I look forward to working with the dedicated Ellipsis team to build upon the amazing work they’ve already done. Together, we will move Ellipsis forward with intention and care, ensuring every young person has the resources and support needed to thrive in our community.”

Ellipsis was formed in 2021 after Youth Emergency Services and Shelter and Youth Homes of Mid-America were merged, creating a new seamless and more integrated continuum of care. In recent years, the Ellipsis team has expanded programs to create more opportunities for kids, particularly girls; raised the bar for residential spaces to better serve youth; and successfully advocated for increased funding, ensuring stronger outcomes and brighter futures for those in Ellipsis' care.
