DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 4, 2021) — The Davenport Noon Optimist Club is preparing for their annual Kevin Marxen Respect for Law Presentation, Friday, May 7, 2021, 11:30AM, at the River Center in Davenport, Iowa. During this presentation, the club recognizes and honors a Davenport police officer selected by the Davenport Police Department to an officer who has shown exemplary service to the department and dedication to law enforcement much like Kevin Marxen.
The officer chosen is Sgt Jason Ellerbach and he has served with the Davenport Police Department since 2006. He was selected to the Gang/Street Crimes Unit of the Tactical Operations Bureau in February 2011, serving with distinction in the role until being promoted to Sergeant in December 2015. Sgt Ellerbach was selected to supervise the Gang/Street Crimes unit in September 2016, and in October 2018 Sgt Ellerbach was selected to develop and service the Gun Investigation Unit. Sgt Ellerbach has served in the Criminal Investigation Division for almost ten years, working in and supervising units that focus on gang-related crime and violence.
Sgt Ellerbach’s leadership has been instrumental to not just the Gun Investigation and Narcotics units, but also to the overall success of the Criminal Investigation Division. He is often sought out by detectives and supervisors from other units and agencies for his advice and assistance in their investigations and is well-respected throughout the regional law-enforcement community. Sgt Ellerbach seeks to continuously improve the efficiency of the unit and staff he works with and is willing to work together to tackle an administrative or operation problem.
Sgt Ellerbach is the perfect example of an officer with dedication to law enforcement and exemplary service to the Davenport Police Department and the citizens of the Quad Cities region.
