Davenport, IA – The CASI Memory Café is a gathering place for individuals with cognitive memory loss and their care partners, family or friends to meet on a monthly basis to socialize away from their normal activities. Beginning August 10, CASI is proud to announce the first ever Memory Café meeting. The intention of the CASI Memory Café is to provide participants with early symptoms of Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other memory loss the ability to focus beyond the disease with a positive experience. The Memory Café will give individuals the opportunity to enjoy socialization, laughter, art, music and stories and celebrate who they are as individuals. Additionally, care partners have the opportunity to network with other care partners and share access to a wide variety of resources. Activities include: Puzzles and memory games, dominoes, Uno and other card and board games, watercolor or finger painting, art projects of the participants choosing, laughter yoga, bubbles, music and singing, word games, bingo, bean bag toss, guest speakers and more. You need not be a CASI member to participate. The Memory Cafe will meet every second Thursday of the month from 2:00-4:00pm at CASI.

CASI - The Center For Active Seniors, Inc., established in 1973, serves the needs of older adults by providing a variety of events and daily activities keeping older Quad Citians socially, mentally and physically engaged. As 10,000 baby boomers turn age 65 every day, “senior citizen” is being redefined as is the senior lifestyle. Senior Advocacy programs at CASI help older adults, their families, and caregivers with needs assessment helping partner them with other area agencies and programs keeping them in their own home for as long as is safely possible.

CASI’s Jane’s Place, the only adult day center in Eastern Iowa, provides a comfortable, homelike atmosphere for adults who need supervised care during the day due to stroke recovery, Alzheimer’s and dementia. Jane’s Place provides just the right amount of personal care allowing maximum independence while at Jane’s Place Adult Day Service Center. Open Monday through Friday from 7am to 4:30pm, Jane’s Place is located on the south-side of CASI, 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA 52806.
