BEREA, OHIO (April 25, 2022) — Alex Minyard of Milan (61264) was honored at the Student Life and Leadership Awards at Baldwin Wallace University during the spring 2022 semester. Minyard, a graduate of Rockridge High School majoring in theatre acting and directing, received the Emerging Leaders of the Year Award. The award is given in recognition of successfully transitioning into a leadership role on campus while embodying and uplifting the mission of the university.
Co-hosted by the Student Life Center and the Brain Center for Community Engagement, the Student Life and Leadership Awards recognize and celebrate the co-curricular accomplishments and contributions of BW student leaders, faculty, staff, student-organization advisors, student organizations, and programs that have made a positive impact on BW and surrounding communities.
The University encourages students to participate in a variety of groups to foster leadership skills, such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving. BW students have the opportunity to join over 100 student clubs, professional organizations, and honor societies, ranging from community-service and political-action groups to fraternities and sororities. Students are also encouraged to engage in service opportunities at the local, national, and international levels through one-time and weekly-service projects, alternative break-service trips, and international service experiences.
Baldwin Wallace University, founded in 1845, was one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender. An independent, coeducational university of 3,500 students, BW offers coursework in the liberal-arts tradition in more than eighty academic areas. Located in Berea, twelve miles from downtown Cleveland, BW offers students the cultural, educational, and business advantages of a major metropolitan area.
