Sean McKee Band: Saturday, August 31, 4 p.m.

Kilborn Alley Blues Band: Saturday, August 31, 7 p.m.

Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th Street, Rock Island IL

With the Mississippi Valley Blues Society presenting the concert in partnership with the 2024 Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix, a pair of thrilling, Chicago-based blues acts take the outdoor stage of Rock Island's Schwiebert Park in the final presentations of the MVBS's summer season: an afternoon set with the high-energy talents of the Sean McKee Band, and an evening set with the equally gifted artists of the Kilborn Alley Blues Band.

The Sean McKee Band's frontman, who was born in 1996 in the Chicago suburbs, is a blues guitarist and singer-songwriter deeply influenced by the electric blues of the 1950s and '60s. He began playing music at a young age, initially drawn to drums, but quickly gravitated to the guitar, where his passion for vintage instruments and classic blues took hold. Early experiences, such as sitting in with Anthony Gomes at age 13, cemented McGee's desire to pursue a career in music. After honing his skills under the mentorship of Joe Moss, the blues artist launched his own band, and has since played with legends including Buddy Guy and Jimmy Johnson.

The Kilborn Alley Blues Band at Schwiebert Riverfront Park -- August 31.
