Delivering a celebration of the holiday season with diverse works inspired by the beauty of winter and the celebration of miraculous moments, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's Season of Miracles continues the ensemble's 2024-25 season with performances at Davenport's Adler Theatre on December 7 and Moline's Bartlett Performing Arts Center on December 8, the thrilling repertoire boasting a showcase performance by master violinist Naha Greenholtz.

Canadian violinist Greenholtz was born in Kyoto, Japan, where she began her musical studies at age three. Since her solo debut at 14, concerto appearances include engagements with the Vancouver, Madison, Quad City, Burnaby, Kelowna, and National Repertory Orchestras in works ranging from Bach to Stravinsky. She has also participated in prominent music festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe, including at Maine's Kneisel Hall, New Mexico's Taos, Italy's Spoleto, Switzerland's Lucerne, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall. Greenholtz has also had an active career as an orchestra musician. In addition to her duties as Concertmaster of both the QCSO and the Madison Symphony Orchestra, her performance highlights include guest concertmaster appearances with the Oregon Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, National Ballet of Canada, Omaha Symphony, and Memphis Symphony, among many others.

Included among the repertoire for the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks III concerts are: Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No.30, in C major (Alleluja); Arcangelo Corelli's Concerto grosso, op.6, no.8, in G minor (Christmas Concerto); Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, op.8, no.4 Winter, RV 297; Astor Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires: Winter; Ottorino Respishi's Trittico Botticelliano, P.151; and Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No.96, in D major (The Miracle).

Masterworks III: Season of Miracles performances will be held at Davenport's Adler Theatre on December 7 at 7:30 p.m., and, in Moline, at the Bartlett Performing Arts Center on December 8 at 2 p.m. One hour prior to each performance, concert-goers are invited to attend informational "Concert Conversations" to learn about the works on the program, and on Saturday, "Afterglow" attendees can mingle with Maestro Mark Russell Smith, guest artists, and members of the QCSO in the lobby of the Hotel Blackhawk immediately following the performance. Admission to the concerts is $8-70, and more information and tickets are available by contacting the Quad City Symphony Orchestra at (563)322-0931 and visiting QCSO.org.
