· Call it librarian rock or simply smarter than the rest of the class, but two new releases this week get heady in the language-arts department. Goblin Market continues the side project of the Green Pajamas' Jeff Kelly and Laura Weller with the release of Haunted, on the Camera Obscura Records label, featuring songs based on the works of American author Joyce Carol Oates. More grad studies are assigned by Germany's Tomlab Records with the third single from Patrick Wolf's Wind in the Wires album. The CD and seven-inch single of "Tristan" features an unreleased rarity in "The Hazelwood," with lyrics taken from W.B. Yeats' "The Song of Wandering Aegnus."

· Green Day looks to step into serious film direction with the new video for "Jesus of Suburbia," clocking in at nine minutes. Look for the full 14-minute version to debut online at (http://www.ifilm.com) this week.

· Two old friends are back this coming Tuesday after long absences from the public eye. Kate Bush returns from a 12-year silence with her new album Aerial on the Columbia Records imprint, featuring master bassist Mick Karn of Japan, and the late orchestral arranger Michael Kamen. Six remastered albums from her catalog will be released in new Japanese editions on the same day, including Kick Inside and Hounds of Love. Neil Diamond is back, too. Columbia is releasing 12 Songs, the highly anticipated sessions with producer Rick Rubin that feature Diamond stripped down to an intimate, acoustic affair, as the producer first did with Johnny Cash in 1994.
