My Posse in Effect at the Rust Belt -- June 15.

Saturday, June 15, 8 p.m.

The Rust Belt, 533 12th Avenue, East Moline IL

Delivering what the Riverfront Times calls "a hard-hitting set that’s backed by the rip of live instruments," the seven-piece Beastie Boys tribute outfit My Posse in Effect plays a June 15 headlining concert at East Moline venue The Rust Belt, taking audiences through decades of unforgettable hits with three MCs, a world class DJ, and visuals from their iconic video collection.

With the band's headliners including Ser Lesson as Mike D, Spark1duh? as MCA, Bob C as Adrock, and DJ Mahf, My Posse in Effect is dedicated to breathing new life into the instrumental and band-driven songs, infusing each track with infectious energy and undeniable groove. From the classic hits to the lesser-known gems, this collaborative effort ensures that every moment on stage is a sonic spectacle worthy of Beastie Boys’ legendary status, producing a riveting blend of hip-hop and live instrumentation, and creating a truly unforgettable experience for fans young and old.

As stated in the Riverfront Times, "The sad fact is that you’re never going to get a chance to see the actual Beastie Boys again – at least not with longtime leader MCA, who passed away due to cancer in 2012. A tribute act is the best you are going to get, and this is one that can more than ably do the job. It’s safe to say that My Posse in Effect forgoes the clone treatment found in other cover bands ... . DJ Mahf helps weave drums, guitars, and a stage full of voices into a pitch-perfect presentation that does for Beastie Boys what El Monstero does for Pink Floyd."

Formed in 1981, Beastie Boys consisted of rappers Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitars), and Kate Schellenbach (drums), originally accompanied by DJ Hurricane and later accompanied by turntablist Mix Master Mike. Originally a hardcore punk group, the group's first release, Polly Wog Stew, was released in November of 1982, and the band made the shift into hip-hop music with the 1983 single "Cooky Puss." They later signed to Def Jam Recordings, releasing "Rock Hard" in 1984. Since 1986, the group released eight studio albums, four of which have topped the US Billboard 200 chart, and Beastie Boys have sold in excess of 20 million albums in the United States alone.

My Posse in Effect plays their East Moline engagement on June 15, admission to the 8 p.m. concert is $12.50-20, and more information and tickets are available by visiting TheRustBeltQC.com.
