“Classical Blast in Kilts" at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center -- March 15.

Saturday, March 15, 7 p.m.

Ohnward Fine Arts Center, 1215 East Platt Street, Maquoketa IA

Inviting audiences to celebrate St. Patrick's weekend at the Ohnward Fine Arts center, the Maquoketa venue will host a night of exhilarating fun in the March 15 concert event Classical Blast in Kilts, the event featuring rock versions of traditional Celtic music alongside songs by contemporary Irish rock bands including U2, Cranberries, Dropkick Murphues, Snow Patrol, and other greats.

Based based out of the Chicago area, the touring ensemble Classical Blast is wildly popular for their innovative new arrangements of classic rock tunes performed on a mix of classical and rock instruments. Classical Blast has opened concerts for major rock headliners, among them: The Electric Light Orchestra; Stryper; Michael McDonald; famed Eagles guitarist Don Felder; rock legend Joan Jett; and many others. From Bach to classic rock to contemporary pop, you’ll find their performance electrifying and their musical approach refreshing, with their unique blend of classical and contemporary tunes heralded as captivating, powerful, and beautiful.

Classical Blast also brings the classical arts to mainstream rock music by using instruments not typical in today's rock era. At Classical Blast in Kilts, audiences will hear famed classic rock guitar solos by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Paige, and many additional legends performed on violin and cello. Patrons will also hear outstanding arrangements and vocals that will rock music lovers to the core: famed classic-rock songs mashed with renowned classical pieces, well known music by classical composers rocked out; and rock-classical medleys. Classical Blast’s live shows truly do offer exhilarating music for everyone, and their St. Patrick's Day-themed event in Maquoketa will begin with a traditional Irish toast and performances by several guest musicians.

Classical Blast in Kilts comes to Maquoketa on March 15, admission to the 7 p.m. concert event is $15-28, and more information and tickets are available by calling (563)652-9815 and visiting OhnwardFineArtsCenter.com.
