Performing in a special Chamber Music Quad Cities concert at Davenport's Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Parish Hall on October 29, violinist and former CMQC Artistic Director David Bowlin, cellist and CMQC Co-Artistic Director Gregory Sauer, and pianist Tony Cho will combine their talents for The Recital, the exhilarating classical program boasting music from composers Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Bela Bartók.

Violinist Bowlin has won critical acclaim for his performances of a broad repertoire from the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and many other outlets. The first-prize winner of the 2003 Washington International Competition, Bowlin has performed as a soloist across the U.S. and abroad. Among his dozens of premieres are violin concerti composed for him and performed at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival and at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Bowlin is a member of the Oberlin Trio and a founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble. He has performed as a guest with the Juilliard Quartet; with members of the Emerson and Brentano Quartets; with pianists Mitsuko Uchida, Richard Goode, and Jonathan Biss; and has toured extensively with Musicians from Marlboro. Together with his duo partner, pianist Cho, Bowlin has performed in recital across the United States, Europe, and South Korea. Bowlin currently serves as Professor of Violin and Chair of Strings at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and in the summer serves on the faculty of the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival.

Pianist Cho enjoys a wide-ranging career in keyboard collaborative art as a recitalist, chamber musician, and opera and vocal coach. He has performed at Weill Carnegie Hall in New York City, Meany Hall in Seattle, Harris Concert Hall in Aspen, the Honolulu Museum of Art, Zipper Hall in Los Angeles, and many other venues in the United States and abroad. His performances with various singers and instrumentalists have been featured on WVIZ Cleveland’s Ovations Series, and live on KVOD Denver, KHPR Honolulu, and WMEA Maine Portland Public Radio’s Tiny Screen Concert Series. With his chamber-music partner Bowlin, Cho has performed across the U.S., Europe, and in South Korea. As an opera coach, Cho has been on the music staff at Central City Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Hawaii Opera Theater, Long Beach Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Sarasota Opera, Tulsa Opera, and Virginia Opera. In addition, he has served as vocal arts coach at the Juilliard School, the
University of Southern California, and the Oberlin Conservatory, where he currently coaches chamber music.

Gregory Sauer in Chamber Music Quad Cities' “The Recital" at the TRinity Episcopal Cathedral -- October 29.

Cellist Sauer has appeared in recital at the Old First Concert Series in San Francisco, Vanderbilt University, Rice University, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, and the Brightmusic Concert Series in Oklahoma City, among many others throughout the U.S. Sauer has performed concertos with orchestras such as the Houston Symphony, the Quad City Symphony, the Columbus (GA) Symphony, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and the Missoula Symphony, and as a member of Trio Solis, he performed in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. The musician has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, MSR Classics, and Mark Records, and Sauer holds the positions of principal cello of the Tallahassee Symphony and assistant principal of the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra. He served nine seasons as principal cellist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, and was appointed to the music faculty at Florida State University in 2006. He taught for 11 years at the University of Oklahoma, and was named Presidential Professor in 2005.
